Complex savoury nose with spicy secondary characters developing. A full bodied, complex palate with acid giving a lively lift. Will age well. Score - 97. (Winestate, May/June 2022)
If anyone is wondering who on earth wakes up in the morning and thinks, I'll call my new red wine, 'Baron von Nemesis', then I suspect you've never met the team here. I am sure that they have their reasons. Whatever they might be, this is a fabulous Barossa Shiraz. Inky dark, big, bold and rich, it just oozes chocolate and mocha topped by spices, plums and fruitcake notes with good early complexity here. It does exhibit some of the brooding and slightly burly nature we find with the 2020 vintage. Fine yet slightly firm tannins after a seductive palate. There is focus and length too and, while it would be very easy and understandable if you chose to enjoy it now, it will age and improve for at least a decade. Love it. Drink date: 2022-2032. Score - 94. (Ken Gargett, winepilot.com, Oct. 2022)
Smooth and comfortingly delicious, the wine shows dark berry, assorted nut, clove and game notes on the nose. The palate displays gorgeously rounded mouthfeel and rich texture, wonderfully complemented by juicy fruit intensity and spicy nuances. At its best: now to 2029. Score - 93. (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, May 2022)
It's impressively ripe and lifted on the nose showing dark fruit intensity, smoked game, roasted nut and violet aromas. The palate displays awesome weight and richness, combined with silky texture and fine-grained tannins, making it wonderfully flavoursome and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2034. Score - 93. (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, May 2022)
This is sourced from McLaren Vale. It is a totally captivating and quite beautiful Grenache loaded with all the seductive goodies you expect from this variety. The bouquet reveals a rose petal and strawberry, blueberry thing contributing to the exotic perfumes. It's a wine that relies on the beautiful fruit characters, so only a smidgen of oak edges in. Super example of the variety. Drink by: 2023-2029. Score - 94. (Ray Jordan, winepilot.com, Sept. 2023)
'A really nice straightforward style of shiraz,' said one judge. Fleshy and rounded with plum and raspberry-like fruit characters and dusty/earthy notes. Score - 5 Stars (out of 5). (Winestate, May/June 2022)
An 87/13% blend with sangio in the lead. Plenty to love here, and no need to dissect each variety's contribution, as the wine works cohesively in its own right. Part earthy and savoury, part dark plum and chocolate; with juicy, crunchy tart satsuma plum flavours and lip-smacking tannins that carry the flavours for quite some time. Drink by: 2028. Special Value. Score - 94. (Tony Love, winecompanion.com.au, June 8, 2021)
This wine is 60% Shiraz farmed in McLaren Vale and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from Langhorne Creek. It's floral, with blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, campfire, and oak spice. Well-made and structured, with a smooth, long finish. Enjoy it with grilled meats or grilled portobello mushroom burgers. This will drink through to the end of the decade.
It's light and delicate with green apple, nectarine, olive and floral aromas on the nose. The juicy palate offers excellent focus and vibrant fruit flavours, finishing crisp and mouth-watering. At its best: now to 2024. Score - 92. (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, June 2022)
