If anyone is wondering who on earth wakes up in the morning and thinks, I'll call my new red wine, 'Baron von Nemesis', then I suspect you've never met the team here. I am sure that they have their reasons. Whatever they might be, this is a fabulous Barossa Shiraz. Inky dark, big, bold and rich, it just oozes chocolate and mocha topped by spices, plums and fruitcake notes with good early complexity here. It does exhibit some of the brooding and slightly burly nature we find with the 2020 vintage. Fine yet slightly firm tannins after a seductive palate. There is focus and length too and, while it would be very easy and understandable if you chose to enjoy it now, it will age and improve for at least a decade. Love it. Drink date: 2022-2032. It's impressively ripe and lifted on the nose showing dark fruit intensity, smoked game, roasted nut and violet aromas. The palate displays awesome weight and richness, combined with silky texture and fine-grained tannins, making it wonderfully flavoursome and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2034. The Adelaide Hills region produces wines with rich body and a plush mouthfeel. From one of Australia's most beloved producers, this Shiraz displays notes of cassis, milk chocolate and black pepper. A wine that will serenade you with its bold texture and harmonious balance and be note-perfect with spicy sausage.

An 87/13% blend with sangio in the lead. Plenty to love here, and no need to dissect each variety's contribution, as the wine works cohesively in its own right. Part earthy and savoury, part dark plum and chocolate; with juicy, crunchy tart satsuma plum flavours and lip-smacking tannins that carry the flavours for quite some time. Drink by: 2028. This wine is 60% Shiraz farmed in McLaren Vale and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from Langhorne Creek. It's floral, with blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, campfire, and oak spice. Well-made and structured, with a smooth, long finish. Enjoy it with grilled meats or grilled portobello mushroom burgers. This will drink through to the end of the decade.
