This LBV Port blends traditional Douro grapes varieties, predominately Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. Expect layered blackberry and dark cherry aromas, with hints of wood from the aging in oak barrels. The flavours are well-balanced and persistent, with a long finish.
This lively fizz is a 50-50 blend of Arinto and Loureiro. Part of the blend is aged in wooden barrels to develop rich toasty notes while the rest undergoes secondary fermentation in stainless steel. The final result is a vibrant, youthful yet layered bubbly evocative of juicy white fruit and brioche. Pair with mild cheeses, steamed shellfish or sushi.
Villa Alvor Red blends some of the best red grape varieties of the Algarve. Mediterranean aromas are carried through the nose and palate with generous black fruit and herbal notes. The palate is fresh and engaging, with good acidity and balance. Enjoy it paired with tomato-based pasta dishes and grilled meats.
While there is a strongly mineral texture, the wine also has a ripe, rounded edge that gives it weight. Creamy Alvarinho shines strongly, illuminating the wine's power. Drink from 2025 [and into early 2030s]. Score - 94. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, March 2, 2024)
