The Douro Valley is the most recognized region in Portugal, known for its high-quality wines. This Douro red reveals aromas of black fruits with subtle floral and smoky notes. Harmonious flavours flow through the palate, with elegant tannins adding complexity to the wine. Pair with aged cheeses, paella or vegetable dishes.
This LBV Port blends traditional Douro grapes varieties, predominately Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. Expect layered blackberry and dark cherry aromas, with hints of wood from the aging in oak barrels. The flavours are well-balanced and persistent, with a long finish.
While there is a strongly mineral texture, the wine also has a ripe, rounded edge that gives it weight. Creamy Alvarinho shines strongly, illuminating the wine's power. Drink from 2025 [and into early 2030s]. Score - 94. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, March 2, 2024)
