The 2018 Gran Reserva Beronia was aged for 28 months in barrels. Oak-driven aromatics - cedar, vanilla, black fruit - drive the nose, with soft camphor and blackberry in the background. Dry, with fine tannins and juicy flow, the palate is smooth and well balanced. The 2018 is a polished crowd-pleaser. Drinking window: 2025-2040. Score - 93. This new French oak-fermented Tempranillo uses grapes from 50-year-old vines, hence its Viñas Viejas label. Clove and coffee bean aromas lead you into a palate of blueberry and blood orange, with textured tannins and supporting acidity. Drink date: 2024-2030. Score - 93.
