Noticeable oak; smoky and chocolaty, but there is a deeply concentrated boysenberry, blackberry, rosehip, hibiscus fruit core which rises to meet it. Young but not closed, the palate has elegance and a blooming, backwardness which expands across the finish with length and evolving complexity. Sleek in shape and medium-bodied but flowing, it has sneaky intensity and innate depth. A finely balanced, perfumed and classy effort. Drink date: 2024-2039. Score - 95. A well-rounded, flavorful and inspired sauvignon blanc with papayas, passion fruit sorbet and fresh herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied with bright acidity. Flint and cashew aromas get a vibrant lift from the lemon and lime curd aromas on this highly classy-yet-approachable Chard from one of New Zealand's most famous brands. Similarly, the palate feels open and complete, with lovely texture and acidity zhuzhing up the grilled stone fruit and spice flavors flowing to a long finish. Drink now with roasted chicken or mushroom or cellar for several more years. Score - 95. (Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast, Nov. 1, 2025)
