A unique delicacy made from blackberries sourced from family-owned farms in the Niagara region, this fortified fruit wine helped put Southbrook on the map decades ago. Sumptuous and powerful, it will make a wonderful accompaniment to fresh-fruit tarts, or mix it with your favourite VQA bubbly for a Canadian kir royale.
This has long been one of the best fruit wines produced in Ontario, period. There is a directness and honesty to the raspberry fruit that is almost startling - as if you were deep in the berry patch picking on a hot summer day, with the brush, leaves and earth. A touch candied and jammy on the palate. It is full bodied, very sweet, with very good acidity, that drives onto the finish. It is not complex but it is a treat. The length is excellent. Last tasted January 2022. Silver Medal winner at the 2019 National Wine Awards of Canada. Score - 92. (David Lawrason, winealign.com)

It's smooth and highly gulpable on the palate with a bevy of juicy red berries and tingly acidity on the finish. Score - 91. (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Oct. 7, 2020)
