This is all from estate fruit and is bottled unfined with light filtration. The grapes were fully destemmed and fermented wild in eight-ton oak fermenters and left on skins for 31 days. After pressing, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months before careful barrel selection and blending. Quite fruit-laden on the nose with intense cassis, blackberries and Morello cherries with integrated spice notes. The palate shows firm structure and more meat on the bones with a melange of dark berries, polished tannins, more evident spice and a lifted, long finish. Can cellar through 2033. Score - 91. This Gamay is wild fermented and spends 12 months in neutral French oak barrels. It has an attractive nose of raspberries, strawberries and blue plums in a pure and persistent profile. It's smooth and highly gulpable on the palate with a bevy of juicy red berries and tingly acidity on the finish. Score - 91. (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Oct. 7, 2020)
Harvested from old vines in the renowned and mineral-rich Laundry Vineyard in Lincoln Lakeshore, this wine was wild fermented in French oak and promises yellow plum, wet stone and lemon curd aromas, with flavours of apple butter and baking spice elevated by crisp acidity.
The majority of the fruit for this wine was sourced from the Laundry Vineyard in Vinemount Ridge, imparting a distinct mineral core. It's bright, dynamic and fresh, with apple, apricot, lemon, and an emerging hint of Riesling's evocative petrol character. This will be ideal for a vegetarian Thai curry.
All the Triomphe red wines are wild fermented with 100% French oak (in a combination of new and used barrels) aging for 18 months with the grapes sourced from the estate and trusted organic growers. The Merlot is highly aromatic on the nose with pure red berries, cassis, anise and fine oak spices. The palate reveals good concentration of red and dark berries, with earthy notes, spice and some structure on the vibrant, long finish. Can cellar through 2032. Score - 91. Hogan prefers that the estate Gamays have some oak, in this case 100% neutral French oak for 9 months, to give the wines added texture and complexity. It shows lovely brambly raspberries, plums, dark cherries, and rhubarb with pepper, herbs, and anise accents. It's smooth on the palate with modest structure then bright red berries, savoury/earthy notes, plums, red currants and subtle pepper and spice all leading to a vibrant finish. Can cellar 3+ years if so inclined but drinking great right now. Score - 92. (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, April 18, 2023)
