100% Shiraz. A striking harmony of dried thyme, oregano and mace with sublime aromatic undertones of red fruit and liquorice. Rich and powerful with plenty of fleshy sweet fruit tumbling through to the long spicy finish. A great future ahead. Platinum. Score - 97. (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2023)
A blend of fruit sourced from multiple Barossa sub-regions provides a luscious meld, with the comforting embrace of rich red berries carrying an earthy swagger, complemented by lively mulberries and blackberries, piqued by a purple perfume of violets and lavender. The expansive, luxurious mid-palate is all about relaxing in the comfort zone, with supple textures framed by subtle oak, clipped black tea tannins and a pinch of black pepper. A very attractive blend. Drinking window: 2025-2038. Score - 95. (David Sly, decanter.com, July 16, 2024)
This wine has an impressive nose, featuring aromas of dark berries, rich flowers, and mixed spices. On the palate, it offers succulent fruit flavours with excellent weight, complemented by a smooth texture and polished tannins. The wine is beautifully rounded yet wonderfully structured, leading to a persistent, flavoursome finish. At its best: now to 2035. Score - 94. (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, Nov. 2025)
Fresh and vibrant with luscious aromas of dark cherries, blood plums, dried herbs and blackcurrants. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving generous notes of mulberries, mocha, ferric earth and violets. A wonderful balance of fresh fruit with a savory undertone. Drink or hold. Score - 93. (jamessuckling.com, Oct. 23, 2024)
I've written before how I like the 2024 Eden Valley rieslings. They are perhaps not as aromatically punchy as the norm but they are stony-pure with that familiar Christmas lily volume just turned down a notch. But that focused line, eh?! The Freya here is a beauty, all velocity and limey precision and I am here for it. A cracker. Drink from: 2024. Drink by: 2036. Special Value. Score - 94.
