Classic Barossa Shiraz on the nose: mint and eucalyptus alongside sweet dark fruit, engine oil and smoky bacon. Very complex with an overlay of quality oak, the supple tannins in immaculate balance, the length astonishing. Utterly superb! [Drink into mid-2030s.] Score - 97. (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2021)
100% Shiraz. Lovely lifted brambles and raspberries, with notes of black pepper and cinnamon, lovely nuances of mint and violets. Fresh and lively, with ripe tannins. Score - 95. (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2023)
A beautifully bright, spacey and detailed blend of 56/25/19% grenache/shiraz/mourvédre with a snappy minerally line, chewy, powdered granite tannins and loads of bright red berry raspberry and red plummy fruit. Spicy, too, with a gentle floral facet, gingerbread notes and a really easy-drinking vibe. I like it a lot. Drink from: 2024. Drink by: 2032. Special Value. Score - 93. Another top shiraz with lead-pencil and graphite character to the dark fruit. Full-bodied and tight with firm tannins that run the length of the wine. Finishes with lead-pencil shavings. Very unique. Drink or hold. Score - 95. (jamessuckling.com, Jan. 2, 2023)
From three vineyards, two more than 40 years old, in cooler, high elevation parts of the Eden Valley; hand picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented cool. Opens with a perfumed bouquet of white flowers and citrus blossoms, the palate tracking with exemplary analysis and purity. Its lime/lemon flavour baseline gives it presence now and into the distant future. Drink from: 2023. Drink by: 2042. Special Value. Score - 95. (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 2, 2023)
