Lovely, classic-smelling Rioja Gran Reserva here from stalwart Bar贸n de Ley, complete with toasted coconut, sandalwood, cedar and melted butter flavours, also dried cherry fruit and wild herbs. I love the silky-firm texture, the sapid and saline qualities, the genuine substance and depth. Textbook wine all around, enjoyable now but surely no rush; cellar into the thirties without concern. Tasted July 2024. Score - 92. (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com)
Vanilla and chocolate to the fresh black plums and blackberries. Juicy and tight on the palate with firm, lightly grippy tannins and lots of sappy fruit. Bright acidity. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold. Score - 91. (Zekun Shuai, jamessuckling.com, June 14, 2023)
