This is a Cabernet Franc-led wine, with Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot rounding out the blend. It was aged in a combination of French and American oak and is an aromatic, fruity wine, with cherry, plum, vanilla, and a dash of baking spice.
This dessert wine offers sweetness without the overt richness found in Icewine. It's wonderfully complex, with honey, peach, tangerine, lychee, apple and apricot notes. Try this lovely wine with a vanilla custard cake or a caramel tart. (Vintages panel, Sept. 2018)
This wine was awarded 90 points by Michelle Bouffard of winealign.com and earned a Gold Medal at the 2018 National Wine Awards of Canada. It was aged in French acacia barrels, which adds a lovely floral honeyed note to the citrus, apple and tropical tones. This floral, lush, balanced, crisp Icewine with its fresh, lively acidity is a fine example of this classic Ontario style. Rich enough to enjoy on its own, it will also be great with a mango-banana sorbet. (Vintages panel, Dec. 2018)
This Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer blend starts with a chiselled complexity on the nose that recalls candied lemon, lychee, Mirabelle and apricot. That intriguing scent leads to a luminous and faintly Cabernet-Franc-spiced entry. Then suddenly, there's apricot-lemon-Mirabelle again with a slight cherry-blackcurrant undertow. Close your eyes and you'd think this was a rosé. A little strawberry-rose flourish emerges on the finish, too. This wine gets better with each sip. Score - 92.
