Ripe black cherry, black currant and plum fruit marks this suave red. Shows fine balance and length, promising a long life ahead. Drink now through 2036. Score - 94. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, Oct. 15, 2020)
A dark but transparent magenta, the 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is loaded with aromas of lavender, blackberry, toasted cedar, and crushed stones. Full-bodied, it's juicy but light on its feet for this warm vintage, with plush tannins, a rounded, fresh mid-palate, and delicate, savory earth notes on the clean finish. This polished wine will do well with another year in the cellar. Drink 2025-2040. Score - 93. (Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Jan. 25, 2024)
Multifaceted from the get-go, with aromas of cherry, fresh mushroom, spice and woodsy underbrush, this balanced and persistent red features ripe fruit and mineral flavors, with a fresh, flinty, gravelly finish. Combines elegance and power. Best from 2026 through 2042. Score - 95. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, June 30, 2024)
This supple, black currant-, blackberry-, iron-, olive- and cedar-infused red shows its Tuscan roots as well as good varietal character. Elegant and harmonious, this is enjoyable now, yet should age well over the next decade. Drink now through 2035. Score - 92. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, Sept. 30, 2023)
90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo. Bustling red berries and fragrant herbs ally with plump red liquorice; fresh and zesty with a bold yet refined tannic core and a long polished finish. Score - 95. (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2023)
An expressive red, packed with black currant, black cherry, licorice, leather, iron and spice flavors. Sleek and vibrant, this is also deftly balanced, lingering with fruit and licorice accents on the long aftertaste. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2030. Score - 94. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, Sept. 30, 2022)
Harvested grapes are dried in wooden boxes and slowly barrel-fermented then aged for up to 16 years in oak and chestnut barrels. Golden yellow colour with bronze hues. Intense aromas of apricot and peach jam with walnuts, well-balanced honey and balsamic notes, finishing with good length persistent. Pair with dessert.
A jeweled ruby color, the 2021 Chianti Classico is ripe and has a great nose of fresh wild herbs, pure raspberry, graphite, and fresh violets. Medium-bodied, its more cedar tones come through on the palate, with ripe, very well-integrated tannins, clean lift, and a hint of its toasted incense on the finish. A very well-balanced wine from Carpineto, it's showing beautifully now but will certainly improve in another 6 months. Drink date: 2024-2034. Score - 90. (Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Jan. 25, 2024)
This red starts out supple, revealing cherry, blackberry, violet and spice flavors. There's a line of dusty tannins underneath, yet this is balanced and long in the end. Best from 2025 through 2039. Score - 92. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com)
