This vintage feels and tastes radically different from the 2007 vintage that I tasted right before I tasted this wine. Those three years represent a positive stylistic shift for the 2010 Barolo Riserva. This expression is infinitely more delicate and nuanced. The wine sports a lighter footstep and a finely polished texture. Wild berry and forest bramble segue to campfire ash and white truffle. Drink date: 2017-2027. Score - 93. A big, beefy red, this is notable for the cherry, plum, mineral, tobacco, spice and eucalyptus flavors. Turns more elegant as this evolves on the palate, yet with abundant detailed tannins and vibrant acidity. Though austere now, this shows fine balance, with plenty of warmth and spice. Best from 2026 through 2048. Score - 95. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, Feb. 28, 2023)
A supple style, this delivers juicy black cherry, plum, tar, leather, iron and spice flavors. Broad and well-endowed, with dense tannins that exert themselves on the finish for now. This should come together nicely in about 3-5 years. Excellent length. Best from 2026 through 2043. Score - 93. (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, Feb. 28, 2023)
This is the first vintage where the estate is certified organic. Still ruby in the glass, the wine starts with a poised nose of intense pot pourri, restrained dried cherry fruit and a whiff of tar. Very elegant, it features dense, velvety tannins, super-refined and umami, woven with refreshing acidity and assertive liquorice and sweet violet flavours. The tannins develop a dustiness on the finish, combined with pipe tobacco notes. A great wine. Drinking window: 2023-2038. Part of Barolo 2018 Vintage Report Plus Top-Scoring Wines. Score - 95. (Aldo Fiordelli, decanter.com, July 18, 2022)
The woodsy nose features both fruit and earth, with notes of berries, pomegranate, moss, bark and damp fallen leaves. That balance continues onto the palate, where smooth, pliable tannins lead into a salty, mineral finish. Score - 91. (Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, March 1, 2024)
Enticing aromas of camphor, violet, ripe dark-skinned fruit and baking spice mingle with new leather on this stunning red. On the savory palate, notes of star anise, crushed mint and truffle accent a juicy black cherry core. Enveloping, refined tannins provide support. Drink date: 2025-2032. Cellar Selection. Score - 96. (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, July 1, 2021)
Sandy loam soils and alluvial sediment provide the perfect growing environment for this hand-harvested Pinot Grigio. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on its lees for up to six months, it has inviting ripe fruit and honey aromas. Medium-bodied, it shows pleasant minerality and a crisp refreshing finish.
