Ripe, expressive and concentrated, with plum pudding and baked fig supported by firming mineral notes and tight tannins. A warm dusting of Christmas spices adds to the opulence, yet the inner density shows the mineral energy to match the broad frame and richness. Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah. Best from 2026 through 2038. Score - 94. (Kristen Bieler, winespectator.com, March 31, 2025)
The classic cuvée is the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, which is based on 43% Roussanne, 30% Clairette, 25% Grenache Blanc, and 2% Bourboulenc. It's brilliant stuff, offering lots of bright lemon and pineapple-like fruits as well as white flowers, honeysuckle, and a kiss of chalky minerality. Beautiful on the palate as well, it's medium to full-bodied, with integrated acidity and just flawless balance. It ranks with the finest whites in the vintage and is well worth seeking out. It should have over a decade of prime drinking, although there's no need to delay gratification. Maturity: 2022-2032. Score - 97. (jebdunnuck.com, Nov. 11, 2022)
A seductive nose of cherries, wild berries, cocoa powder, vanilla and some dried herbs. Medium body with fine tannins. Juicy and creamy with a polished structure. Poised and silky with a succulent core of cherries at the finish. Drink or hold [until 2035]. Score - 93. (jamessuckling.com, May 22, 2023)
