A food-friendly, great-value Chardonnay from one of Ontario's most lauded wineries. Generous ripe pear, herbs, spice, fresh fig and cantaloupe, all nicely supported by balanced acidity. Will match everything from chicken Caesar salad to grilled crab.
Simple, juicy, lactic, leesy, yogurty and free. Welcome to Canadian chardonnay as Chablis done with nothing but easy drinking and freedom in mind. Treads that fine line between clean and leesy but yes, this goes properly and adroitly for the wine. Drink date: 2025-2029. Tasted blind at NWACs, June 2025. Score - 91. The excellent 2020 vintage in Niagara has been very kind to cabernet franc, a category that has done well at the National Wine Awards of Canada. This finds very good varietal purity and balance. The nose is fairly generous with raspberry and redcurrant fruit, fresh herbs and oak resin and spice. It is mid-weight, balanced and warming with firm but not austere tannin. With some age better cohesion and elegance is setting in. There is a sense of fine proportion and completeness. The length is excellent. Last tasted Sept. 2024. Score - 91. This wine is usually released through our Cellar Collection. The Cherry Avenue Vineyard comprises three blocks named for the children of Moray and Joanne Tawse. The Pinot Noir is sourced from Robyn's Block (planted in 2002 and 2005) and David's Block (planted in 2005). It offers cherry, wood spice, earth, and dried herbal notes and will drink through 2032+.
From vines planted in 1998 in a mixture of limestone and clay soils, this Chardonnay is barrel fermented with indigenous yeast. It features fresh green apple, pear, and flinty mineral. Balanced, long and rich, this will drink well through 2025+. Serve with a vegetable quiche or grilled salmon.
This wine is a blend of 39% Merlot with 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Cabernet Franc, each of which was aged for 16 months in French oak before the final assemblage. It's rich and ripe, with generous blackberry, cassis, plum, mixed spices, and a touch of chocolate. Drink by 2027.
This is a very impressive riesling with intense aromas of petrol, crushed pineapple, lemonade and a touch of evergreen. It carries the same intensity on the palate with searing acidity, offset by some sweetness. Very lemony on the finish. The length is excellent. Relentless flavour and quench to enjoy cold on a summer patio. Gin and tonic fans listen up. Tasted April 2024. Score - 92. (David Lawrason, winealign.com)
From vines planted in 2007, this Pinot is from one of Niagara's most recognized producers. The 2023 vintage is one that favoured Pinot Noir. This appealing wine engages immediately with generous aromas of black fruit, leather and spice. The palate is savoury and round with excellent replays from the nose complemented by earth and cherry notes. Drink through end of the decade+.
Always a great value, this is a reliably vibrant wine, with floral, nutty, fig, smoke and pear notes, gentle sweetness and a long, intense finish. Pair with deep-fried calamari, or pork roast with crispy crackling.
