Once again firm reduction masks everything except a discreet floral element. The delicious, rich and beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors possess a generous mouthfeel while exhibiting excellent length on the lightly stony, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. Lovely though note that it's clearly built-to-age. Drink: 2034+. Score - 91-93. (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, Jan. 10, 2024)
Picked 2nd September at 13.5%. 80% new wood. 10% whole bunch. Lovely mid purple, not the deepest. More reserved than Mazoy猫res but clearly with an amazing depth. Crystalline purity, a whole bevy of fine red fruits underlined by a little torrefaction. It is really backward still but with extraordinary length. Very stylish. And actually then a huge weight of fruit returns even later. Score - 95-98. (Jasper Morris, MW, insideburgundy.com, Nov. 2021)
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has an almost clinical bouquet, citrus fresh with commendable purity. Fully de-stemming this was a good decision as it already has sufficient spice. The palate is medium-bodied with a bit of chocolaty oak sticking out. Hopefully, that will be assimilated with time - I will be cautious at the moment, but it should mature well in bottle. Drinking window: 2026-2046. Score - 91-93. From limestone and marl soils, this crisp, refreshing wine has a bright citrus centre supported by apricot, peach, and some tropical notes (particularly pineapple) atop a distinct stony mineral character. Very fine. This will evolve through 2037+.
A more floral-suffused nose offers up aromas of spice, ripe red currant and a hint of wood influence. The nicely elegant and relatively fine middle weight flavors possess a beguiling texture while maintaining good cut on the mildly austere finale. Drink 2025+. Score - 88-91. (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, Jan. 10, 2021)
The 2020 Meursault Village has a well-defined if simple bouquet with light tropical notes. The palate is balanced with fine acidity, grapefruit and light pear notes, the 50% new oak nicely subsumed on the finish. Well-crafted. Drinking window: 2024-2034. Score - 88-90. (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Dec. 2021)
The 2017 Vosne-Roman茅e Les Suchots 1er Cru is 100% whole cluster fruit raised in 50% new oak (two barrels produced). It has a generous bouquet of cranberry, wild strawberry and hints of Seville orange marmalade, a vein of crushed stone tucked underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, firm grip and good structure, the whole bunches influence lending edginess and earthiness toward the finish. It will require three to five years in bottle, but has good potential. Drinking window: 2022-2040. Score - 91-93. (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Jan. 2019)
Reduction still clouds the nose with promising funk, but the palate shows the fine, crisp freshness the wine is about. Vivid acidity pervades the palate while fine tannins crunch ever so gently. This is juicy, bright, vivid, energetic and a little gem. Score - 94. (Anne Krebiehl, MW, falstaff.com, Jan. 25, 2022)
Bottled in September. An attractive pale lemon yellow, with a racy and lightly reductive nose. Perfectly balanced, light on its stony feet, a little citrus wash, and good persistence. A fine example. Drink from 2026-2031. Tasted Dec 2023. Score - 90-92. (Jasper Morris, MW, insideburgundy.com, Jan. 2024)
