This comes from a 1.6-hectare (4-acre) vineyard in Serralunga solely owned by the Doglianis. Floral notes grace the nose, picking up leather and plum flavors. Rich, deep and supple on the palate, this was by far the most impressive of the Batasiolo wines we recently sampled. Aged in barrique. Score - 92. (Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 1, 2006)

This wine is aged in Slavonian oak casks for 18 months. Bussia is well-known for producing balanced, posh Barolo, with soft tannins and enough acidity for the long haul. With over 20 years under its belt, the Bussia Bofani shows a delicate nose of cranberry, toasted nuts, rose petal and menthol.
A longer-than-average growing season for the Boscareto sub-region made for splendid wines from vines planted in marl, clay and limestone. Broad-shouldered but inviting on the palate, this Barolo is sure to dazzle with its hints of dried orange peel, white cherry, potpourri, and worn leather.
