The MontGras team use raw material from the Las Cabras parcel in Peumo to produce this varietal Carmenère. It's very much a reflection of the bodega's new style, with ageing infoudres and older barrels. Sappy, textured and floral with easy-going concentration, blackcherry, plum and fennel flavours and a leafy undertone. Drink date: 2025-2029. Score - 92. (timatkin.com, Chile Special Report 2024)
MontGras planted a hillside in Ninquén in 2000, mainly to cabernet and syrah. This blend contains 35% syrah from those plantations, but it also has 50% grenache (the rest is carignan) from younger vineyards that offer a wine with delicious ripe red fruit in a very smooth and fresh context. Within the MontGras catalog, this is a subversive wine. Score - 93. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2020)
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Antu Single Vineyard Las Araucarias is sourced from Maipo. This garnet-red wine presents aromas of currant and mint, set against a backdrop of marmalade and oak. Indulgent, rich and clingy on the palate, it offers a fairly taut experience. Drinking window: 2024-2030. Score - 89. (JoaquÃn Hidalgo, vinous.com, July 3, 2024)
Sourced from red clay, this Pinot Noir was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel. As a result, it's notably perfumed and floral, with a delightful primary purity and brightness to the strawberry, red cherry and mixed red fruit tones. Elegant, fresh and compelling. A great wine for mushroom-based dishes, roast chicken, or grilled salmon.
Montgras Organic Red is a fruity blend of organic grapes from the Colchagua Valley. Fruity hints of plum, with fresh red fruit and black pepper, are accompanied by soft notes of cedar. It is big, juicy and flavourful, with a long and pleasant finish. Enjoy this well-balanced wine with red meats and mature cheeses.
Intriga has been produced since the 2005 vintage, always based on vineyards planted some 70 years ago in the Linderos zone. The base is cabernet sauvignon (this year 88% of the final blend) along with 7% cabernet franc, and the rest is petit verdot. It was aged for 17 months in barrels and foudres, and the result is a classic example of the variety, but as it is in Maipo, with its accent on herbs and candied red fruit. The palate is tense, with firm tannins and juicy acidity in a wine that took advantage of a cool year like 2021 to offer pure sense of place. Score - 95. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2024)
