The 2018 Solaia continues to develop beautifully. Resonant and ample on the palate, with tons of vibrancy, the 2018 offers terrific vibrancy as well as character. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, blackberry jam, licorice and spice build as the Solaia gains momentum over time. The 2018 is dense and beautifully layered, yet retains the mid-weight structure of this super elegant vintage. Drinking window: 2026-2043. Score - 98. (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, July 19, 2022)
A new red from Antinori. Intense aromas of crushed berries with hints dried herbs and fresh mint. Full body, with wonderfully silky tannins and a long intense finish. Beautiful polished fruit. This is 100% Cabernet Franc. Better in 2014 [through 2024+]. Score - 94. (jamessuckling.com, Aug. 8, 2011)
This stunning expression of Solaia opens with ample aromas of exotic spices, tilled soil, mature black-skinned fruit and an underlying whiff of fragrant blue flowers. The vibrant, elegantly structured palate doles out high-toned black cherry, ripe blackberry, white pepper, cinnamon, clove and Mediterranean herbs alongside a backbone of firm, polished tannins and bright acidity. Drink: 2017-2032. Cellar Selection. Score - 97. (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Aug. 1, 2015)
The 2010 Solaia rounds out this flight in style. Swaths of tannin give the 2010 a real sense of explosive energy and vibrancy that only builds with time in the glass. A whole range of dark aromas and flavors give the 2010 its brooding, inward personality. Tasted from magnum, the 2010 is very young, but its pedigree is unmistakable. Drinking window: 2024-2050. Score - 98. (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Sept. 22, 2020)
The drought and heat of 2022 pushed vines in Tuscany to their limits, and the outcome in many cases are wines of density and concentration but with a vein of freshness - and that's exactly what we see here in the 2022 Solaia. It opens with cool aromas of damp earth, woodland berries, red fruit coulis and a waft of balsamic herbs. In the mouth it is immediately very fleshy, almost voluptuous but holding its shape. Balsam-infused black cherry and dark berries are deepened by chocolatey wood, while succulent acidity brings out the top end and leads to a long, bright, energetic and fresh finish which is full of promise for the future. Drinking window: 2025-2047. Score - 98. (James Button, decanter.com, July 7, 2025)
