Steely and floral nose of white nuts like macadamias, meringue, star fruit and a touch of green pineapple. Round and full-bodied but surprisingly bright and lively, with vibrant acidity providing the backbone. Really long and pure, while there is also suppleness and fleshiness. From the five-hectare Capellania vineyard, where most of the vines are over 100 years old. One of the best viuras out there. Lovely now, but you should seriously consider aging this. Score - 96. The 2020 Rioja Reserva, their flagship wine, comes from the 300 hectares of estate vineyards ... I loved the aromatics here - floral and elegant, more in the style of the 2018 than the 2019. It's lighter, more elegant, fine-boned and has a silky texture and very fine tannins. Both 2019 and 2020 are very good, but 2020 is more my style. It was bottled after 21 months in American oak barrels. Drink date: 2024-2034. Score - 94+. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, Feb. 29, 2024)
This wine has an enticing bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, violet and clove. Dark berry flavors transition to the palate and are joined by notes of dark chocolate, coffee bean, lavender, anisette and a touch of butterscotch. Polished tannins glide into a lengthy spice- and floral-laced finish. Cellar Selection. [Enjoy through early 2030s.] Score - 98. (Mike DeSimone, Wine Enthusiast, July 1, 2023)
