This unpretentious red from the renowned Perrin Family opens with attractive notes of red fruit, such as blackcurrants and blueberries, with touches of leather and violet. The palate is full of ripe red fruit, enhanced by a hint of pepper, a soft texture and fine tannins. It pairs well with poultry dishes and light cheeses.

The 2000 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage À Jacques Perrin (60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Counoise, and 10% Syrah) was singing! Open, upfront, sexy and seamless, with awesome notes of saddle leather, Provencal herbs, barnyard, spice and licorice-soaked black cherry and sweet cassis, it hit the palate with full-bodied richness, no hard edges, and an unctuous, heavenly texture. Reminding me of the 1990, yet perhaps just slightly less intense, this is a profound effort that will drink nicely for another two decades or more. Drink Date: 2015-2040. Score - 98. A textured, layered, precise red, showcasing aromas of cherries, raspberries, warm herbs, bay leaves and baking spices. It's medium- to full-bodied with silty, beautifully melted tannins. So integrated. Lively and focused, with plenty of energy and verve complementing the ripe red fruit and dried herbs. Intense stream of spices in the long, flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2027. [A wine to follow into the early 2040s+.] Score - 97. (jamessuckling.com, Sept. 26, 2024)

Few wines can boast the pedigree found here. It's lush, rich, complex and energetic, with layers of raspberry, plum, black cherry, garrigue and spice. A winning addition to any table or cellar, this will evolve for upwards of two decades. Serve tonight with braised beef or lamb.
Rocking stuff, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc boasts a vivid gold hue to go with a killer nose of honeyed stone fruits, toasted almonds, flower oil, and caramelized orange. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated, has a supple, seamless mouthfeel, and the fresh, elegant style of the vintage. Score - 95. (jebdunnuck.com, Oct. 29, 2024)
Perrin is among the finest producers in the southern Rhône. Some grapes for this rich, age-worthy red come from their legendary Château de Beaucastel estate. Drink over the next decade with roast duck, roast lamb or grilled game meats.
