Wow. Seductive aromas of slate, violets and black cherries as well as some graphite and cedar. Full-bodied, this has incredible depth, intensity and purity, building on the palate with focused fruit and pronounced tannins. Goes on for minutes. A wine for the long run. Best of the vintage? Try after 2029. Score - 100. (jamessuckling.com, Dec. 11, 2024)
This is vibrant and fresh with firm, integrated tannins that melt into the wine. Medium-bodied, but with tension, focus and length. A bitter-orange note comes through. Drinkable now, but better in 2026. Score - 97. (jamessuckling.com, Sept. 26, 2024)
Open and voluminous on the nose, with wide ranging aromatics, Casanova's latest is a beauty, intensely spicy and resinous with ample red fruit alongside, complex and complete. The palate is a sheer joy of fine tannins and zesty acids in synchronicity, and length is excellent. A model of 2020 Brunello, and a terrific new direction from Casanova into more refined and elegant territory. It will drink well quite early on, from about 2026, or hold comfortably into the mid-late-'30s. Tasted November 2024. Score - 96. (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com)
This offers beautiful fruit with purity and focus. Aromas of spices, iodine, graphite and a savory note. Firm, linear and long, with a medium to full body and a backbone of vivid acidity that gives the wine a vertical, focused profile. The tannins are ripe and smoothly integrated. A solid wine that shows balance and integrity. Drink or hold. Score - 95. (jamessuckling.com, July 12, 2025)
