A rich, creamy and linear red expressing notes of sweet berries, raspberry jam and some mild spices. It's medium- to full-bodied with creamy tannins. There's a spicy edge on the dense, dark and creamy palate. Sweet finish. Drink now. Score - 89. (jamessuckling.com, April 26, 2024)
The 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme exhales an elegant, deep bouquet of dark cherries, mulberries, cassis, spices and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, ample and sappy, it's enrobing and charming with structured but elegant tannins that segue into a long, lively and ethereal finish. This blend of 65% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and the rest equal parts of Muscardin, Picpoul Noir, Vaccarèse, Roussanne and Counoise matured in large barrels (20%), concrete tanks (20%), stainless steel (30%) and terracotta jars (30%). It has a real potential to improve in the cellar. Drink date: 2026-2044. Score - 92-94. (Yohan Castaing, robertparker.com, Sept. 26, 2024)
The top wine from the portfolio, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme offers thrilling purity and focus in its lively dark fruits, roasted meats and underbrush-scented bouquet. Full-bodied, ripe and textured, with fantastic polish and sweetness to its tannin, it has a supple, forward feel, yet will easily evolve for 10-15 years. Drink date: 2015-2027. Score - 95. (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Oct. 30, 2014)
This wine bursts with intense aromas of pomegranate, cherry skin, beef bouillon, rose, tarragon, garrigue, and fresh earth. The palate mirrors this intensity, highlighting cherry skin and fine silty tannins. Vibrant acidity elevates the savory finish, adorned with lingering notes of dried herbs and spices. Score - 92. (Anna-Christina Cabrales, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 31, 2024)
There are two slightly eccentric wines from this estate that merit serious attention. Almost 100% Mourvèdre from a parcel close to Vinsobres, the sensational 2015 Vin de France Arcane XV Le Diable had a three-week maceration (Xavier prefers to get as much extraction as possible before alcoholic fermentation), and was aged mostly in small oak tanks and concrete. Blueberries, blackberries, peppery herbs and spice all flow from this layered, full-bodied beauty that has awesome purity, integrated acidity and plenty of structure. Give bottles 2-3 years and drink over the following 10-15 years. Drink date: 2018-2033. Score - 94. (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)
The spicy nose with a slew of red-fruit aromas pulls you into this full-bodied but lively and very well-balanced Cote-du-Rhone. Lovely, creamy texture that's neatly supported by fine tannins. Long, supple finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold [through 2025]. Score - 92. (jamessuckling.com, March 21, 2022)
