A three-bottle exploration of Barolo highlighting the 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintages through wines from three of Barolo's best-known communes. A gift to intrigue and delight.
This barrique-aged Barbera is sourced from a mix of different soils and microclimates across the estate's 60ha planted to the variety, creating what Vite Colte describes as a 'superBarbera'. Subtle aromas of crushed rock and ripe black and red berries introduce a spicy, concentrated palate with a creamy background overlaid by poised, balsam-infused black and red fruits. There's some earthy depth here, too, and a well sculpted feel which is more vertical than horizontal, with - crucially - freshness to balance the concentration. Delicious. Drinking window: 2023-2028. Score - 90. (James Button, decanter.com, Aug. 15, 2023)
Gift a tasting tour of Piedmont: Nebbiolo d'Alba, Barbera d'Asti, Barolo.
100% Barbera. Rich, velvety and intense, bright red plum, black cherry and herbs, with a rounded texture and long spicy finish. Score - 92. (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2024)
This Barbera is loaded with aromas of ripe plums, juicy cherries, violets and a touch of white pepper. The palate is juicy and plump with flavors of plum and cherry just like the nose taking center stage. The wine has the trademark pop of vibrant acidity on the finish balancing out the wine. Best Buy. Score - 92. (Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast, March 1, 2023)
