Where most of the world focuses on Chardonnay, the South of France crafts full-bodied, aromatic white wines from the Marsanne grape. This ripe wine has tropical fruit flavours with hints of acacia oil and honeysuckle. It will make a great accompaniment to a ham marinated in brown sugar and mustard.
There's a refreshing herbaceous lift in this delicious red, which nicely offsets the dense, ripe fruit profile. Cherry, plum and red currant fill out the palate, flecked with smoked meat, violet, forest floor and mineral details. Pencil shavings line the finish, marked by black pepper and smoke. Shows great character and balance. Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now [to 2026]. Ranked #86 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2023. Score - 92. (Kristen Bieler, winespectator.com, Oct. 15, 2023)
Champions of the Languedoc region, Domaines Paul Mas craft exceptional wines made from Rhône grape varieties. The steely minerality imparted by the deep fossils in the gravelly limestone soil leads to a brisk, flinty rosé with hints of sour cherry, raspberry, and grapefruit.
This rich, sophisticated Viognier is sourced from vines ranging from 15 to 25 years of age planted in clay and limestone soils less than 10 kilometres from the Mediterranean. It has subtle toast underlying white flowers, with ample dried fruit, honey and vanilla. A gorgeously textured, food-friendly wine that will work with seafood, vegetarian curries, and white turkey meat at the holidays. Enjoy through 2028.
