Flowers, licorice and berry aromas follow through to a full body, with dense, luscious tannins and a long, flavorful finish. This has wonderful length and richness. Don't wait. -- '99 Brunello blind retrospective (2009). Drink now. Score - 93. (James Suckling, winespectator.com, Feb. 28, 2010)
The inaugural release of the top wine from the new Domaine Pierre Vincent is nothing short of stunning, with immense concentration and enormous depth of flavour. There are glimmers of ripe Mirabelle plums and quince, a mineral note and a suggestion of acacia flowers. The texture is a perfect balance between density and finesse. The domaine owns two parcels, one in Aloxe and one in Pernand, with vines planted in four tranches between 1947 and 1981. Vincent comments, 'This has both finesse and purity - exactly the style I want to produce'. Drinking window: 2028-2060. Score - 97. (Charles Curtis, MW, decanter.com, Jan. 6, 2025)
The 2023 Bourgogne Les Pellans is very discrete on the nose with well-defined hints of white peach and crushed stone. The palate is fresh and vibrant, still with that hint of orange rind flanked by Conference pear. There is a sense of class here that I really like. Tasted at Private Cellar's Pierre Vincent dinner in London. Drinking window: 2025-2033. Score - 90. (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Aug. 21, 2025)
A 1980 planting. Pale lemon colour. Some tension is immediately apparent on the nose. Ripe apples, white fruit, perhaps a touch of plum behind. A fine depth of fruit behind from this lower slope vineyard, with plenty of energy at the finish. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024. Score - 90-92. The Meursault Grands Charrons from Pierre Vincent's new domaine is fabulously good, with a classic Meursault richness of ripe apples, butter and hazelnut, but there is complexity as well, with a bit of smoky reduction and a firm, mineral underpinning. The texture is supple and elegant, avoiding heaviness at all costs. The former owners, Domaine des Terres des Velle, used to blend this fruit into the village Meursault, but Vincent bottles these 15 ares separately since they are the oldest vines of the estate, planted in red clay soils in 1929. Drinking window: 2025-2045. Score - 94. (Charles Curtis, MW, decanter.com, Nov. 10, 2024)
The premier cru Puligny Les Referts from Pierre Vincent's new project is delightful, with pronounced aromas of passion fruit, pomelo and spice. The texture is dense but not heavy and lingers impressively on the palate. The grapes are from 0.15ha planted in 1949. According to Vincent: 'The difference is old vines in the vineyard.' This wine will age 12 months in cask and a further six in tank. It should open up in three to five years and drink well for another 20 beyond that. Drinking window: 2028-2045. Score - 95. (Charles Curtis, MW, decanter.com, Nov. 10, 2024)
This lovely village-level Puligny has classic aromas of lemon peel, flint and smoke; the texture is silky and soft, but supported by enough fresh acidity to keep this very lively. The grapes are mostly from Les Nosroyes (a parcel of 0.21ha under the Clos de la Mouch猫re), blended with about 10% from Les Levrons, located downslope from Les Referts. This should drink fairly early but will also stand up to mid-term ageing. Drinking window: 2025-2035. Score - 94. (Charles Curtis, MW, decanter.com, Nov. 10, 2024)
Ancient vines from 1936 which deliver an impressive volume of white orchard fruit, with better tension than the Chaum茅es. This impeccable Meursault Charmes fills the mouth impressively, with an excellent mix between the perfectly judged ripeness of the white fruit and a little oak. The flavours linger beautifully on the palate. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024. Score - 94-97. (Jasper Morris, MW, insideburgundy.com)
More lemon yellow in the colour. The nose is not very forthcoming. After a while some ripe lemon zest appears, exuberant lift on the palate, clean white fruit behind still infused by the citrus zest. Understated yet fine and long. Drink from 2027-2031. Tasted Nov 2024. Score - 90-92. (Jasper Morris, MW, insideburgundy.com)
