Sweetly fruited and seductively savoury, it's beautifully lifted on the nose showing dark berry, game, toasted spice and almond characters with a hint of dried herb nuance. The palate displays excellent weight and persistency together with silky texture and chalky tannins, making the wine sturdy and structured. At its best: now to 2024. Score - 94. Off-dry pinot gris with honeysuckle, tree fruit/ripe pear, green nectarine and green apple flavours. A hint of sweetness helps promote a silken texture and adds a little weight to the texture. Drink date: 2024-2027. Score - 93. (Bob Campbell, MW, therealreview.com, March 8, 2024)
The 2020 vintage is an elegant, finely poised, ageworthy red, estate-grown in the Southern Valleys and matured for 11 months in French oak barrels. Full, bright ruby, it is fragrant, mouthfilling and supple, with very good complexity and depth of cherry, plum, spice and nutty oak flavours. Best drinking 2024+. Score - 4.5 Stars (out of 5). Powerful and complex at once, the intensely aromatic bouquet shows Granny Smith apple, jalapeno, kaffir lime and flinty characters, leading to an immensely concentrated palate that delivers outstanding depth and persistency. It's fabulously structured by fine texture and firm acidity, finishing impressively long and mouth-watering. At its best: now to 2026. Score - 96. (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, July 2020)
