Ontario's 2019 vintage was a standout year for Pinot Noir and this one offers stunning value. It was fermented in stainless steel followed by 16 months in French and American oak barrels. Look for notions of black cherry, forest floor and stony mineral, and pour with tourtière or roast meats.
From Peninsula Ridge's sun-soaked Beal Vineyard, this blushing rosé is silken on the palate with flavours of strawberry, watermelon, and red licorice. The bright acidity and light herbal tones make it an easy choice for a picnic with your favourite deli sandwiches and a fruit salad to accompany.
A wildly herbal and near Amaro red fruited malbec that speaks to place as much as anything else in this wine. The McNally Vineyard makes for red fruit of a swarthy but oh so natural savour, life raspberries in syrup that has been made aromatic by star anise, cassia and clove ... This vineyard sheds more citrus and bitters in the red fruit it grows, whether pinot noir or malbec and so the VA number acts higher as a result. Drink 2020-2023. Score - 89. (Michael Godel, winealign.com, Nov. 2020)
From a ripe year and now beginning to evolve this shows quite graceful and classic, well integrated syrah aromas of smoked meat, pepper, candied black cherry and maturing leather. Compelling aromatics. It is medium weight, quite sleek, smooth and well balanced with dusty tannin. The focus and depth are very good to excellent. Tasted November 2020. Score - 90. Aged for 18 months in American oak, this single-vineyard Merlot serves up ripe cherry, blackberry, cedar and spice, with wisps of chocolate and vanilla. Lovely intensity, texture and length. A great choice for beef tenderloin in a rosemary-and-red-wine reduction.
'INOX' refers to the stainless steel alloys often used in non-wood wine barrels. This unoaked VQA wine celebrates the character of chardonnay without the overlay of oak-induced characteristics. Delicate floral, apple and citrus aromas and flavours are present on the nose and palate. It is a perfect pairing for oysters.
Peninsula Ridge Winery is known for its quintessentially Canadian, cool-climate wines. Enjoy floral, kiwi and grapefruit flavours with hints of yeast and herbs. This wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve the purity of the fruit's expression. Serve with seafood, salads or creamy-textured cheeses.
Medium ruby in colour with aromas of red fruit, herbs, berry, spice and watermelon. Medium-bodied, quite ripe and silky, it ends with toasted spices and harmonious tannins.
